[Introduction to FT232R]
With the development of computer technology, the parallel port and serial port slowly disappeared on the PC, and now there are few parallel ports on the desktop. But for engineers, both the parallel port and the serial port are essential interfaces, especially the serial port. For a computer without a serial port, the most convenient solution is to use a USB to serial port chip to virtualize a serial port. Many manufacturers have such chips, such as the CP210x series of silicon LABS, the TUSB3410 of TI, and the CH34x series of Nanjing Yuheng. FTDI's FT232 series, Prolific's PL230x series, Aike's ARK3116 and more. From the perspective of stability, the FT232 series is the most reliable, and it can be used to safely debug the program without worrying about the blue screen.
The FT232R chip is a single-chip solution that typically uses essentially no peripherals. The EEPROM, USB matching resistors, and EEPROM for placing product information are already integrated. The FT232R has some more useful features. See the FT232R data sheet for details.
· Adopt FTDI FT232RL chip;
·Export all signal ports of FT232RL chip, TTL/CMOS level;
· RXD/TXD transceiver communication indicator;
USB powered, selectable 5V or 3.3V interface level (if other levels are required, the target voltage can be provided directly on the VCC and GND pins).
· FT232R windows driver;
· Serial debugging software.
Built-in a new and original FTDI IC device 'FT232BL', which handles all the USB signal ling and protocols. TTL levels of +5V and +3.3V adjustable design, and draws power directly from your PC/laptop via the USB connection, no need for an external power adapter
Designed to be used for USB to TTL electronic projects, easy to connect to your MCU or Raspberry Pi. Status LED for TX,RX,USB which can show serial adapter status and data activity at a glance
Supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Window 7,8,10, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X & Linux and above OS, Linux and Mac OS will install FTDI driver automatically, but NOT compatible with Chrome OS.
USB to serial adapter is seen as a COM port by your computer/laptop, and is available for use by any program that accesses COM ports.
It works great for programming microcontrollers such for Arduino, boarduino, Bareduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP8266, micro minimOSD, and Atmel Xmega Xplained, Atmega328 mini pro, or any other that can be programmed over serial
After installing the driver,This FTDI TTL adapter will simulate a COM port on your computer/laptop.
Through this simulated COM port, you can communicate or program with various hardware or MCUs, such for Arduino board, Raspberry Pi, ESP8266, router and so on.
